The spokesperson for the Egyptian Artists' Syndicate, Tarek Mortada, stated that the artist Hani Shaker has dropped the lawsuit filed by the syndicate against Hamou Beka, indicating that this does not grant Hamou Beka the right to sing. He added that Hamou Beka had entered the syndicate's listening committee but did not pass the test.
Mortada continued by saying that no artist has the right to hold concerts or sing at weddings without a permit from the Syndicate of Musical Professions. He emphasized: "We will try to prevent Hamou Beka from singing on YouTube through the legal affairs of the syndicate." Regarding the syndicate's position on Hamou Beka's appearance in the new music video by Ahmed El Fishawy, he explained that it would be determined after the release of the video, noting that singing is different from merely appearing without singing; this matter will then be left to the Acting Professions Syndicate.
The spokesperson also mentioned about Ahmed El Fishawy's singing: "Ahmed El Fishawy is a member of the Acting Professions Syndicate, and he will sing in the video based on a collaboration between the Federation of Artistic Syndicates and the Musicians Syndicate." Furthermore, a statement was issued by the Syndicate of Musical Professions at the end of last month clarifying that the syndicate's president and members accepted Beka's apology for his earlier statements against them. The statement noted that the syndicate's president, Hani Shaker, had requested the syndicate's lawyer to drop the lawsuit against Hamou Beka in order to protect his future.
In October, the Al-Dekheila Court issued a ruling sentencing popular singer Hamou Beka to two years in prison with hard labor for threatening to storm the Syndicate of Musical Professions and for insulting its members, particularly the syndicate's president, Hani Shaker. Hamou Beka had offered many apologies to the syndicate, especially to Hani Shaker, during television interviews and on social media; however, Hani Shaker insisted that "justice should take its course."
