Ministry of Agriculture Issues Decisions Regarding Export of Fresh Citrus and Live Livestock

The Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas Mortada, has issued three decisions concerning the export of fresh citrus and live livestock.

**Decision No. 8/1** Regarding the Export of Fresh Citrus:

- **Article 1:** The export of fresh citrus of all kinds is subject to prior approval issued by the Minister of Agriculture.

- **Article 2:** Each exporter must obtain the prior export approval (according to the model indicated in annex No. 1 attached to this decision).

- **Article 3:** A request for prior export approval must be submitted at the Agricultural Resources Directorate (according to the model indicated in annex No. 2 attached to this decision).

- **Article 4:** This decision shall take effect upon its issuance until further notice.

- **Article 5:** This decision shall be published in the official gazette and notified to the necessary parties.

**Decision No. 619/1** Regarding the Export and Re-export of Live Livestock:

- **Article 1:** Article eight of decision No. 487/1 dated 11/6/2014 related to the export and re-export of live livestock is amended to read: "Regarding forest goats and sheep, this decision is effective until 31/12/2021. The remainder remains unchanged."

- **Article 2:** Any text that contradicts the content of this decision is annulled, and it shall take effect immediately upon issuance and be notified to the necessary parties.

**Decision No. 17/1** Regarding Conditions for Importing Livestock:

- **Article 1:** Decision No. 534/1 dated 27/10/2020 is annulled to correct an error in Article 1 of decision No. 521/1 dated 13/10/2020 (amending the second paragraph of Article 4 of decision 829/1 dated 8/12/2010 - setting conditions for importing live livestock).

- **Article 2:** The material error in Article 1 of decision No. 521/1 dated 14/10/2020 is corrected to state 48 months instead of 42 months, with the second paragraph of Article 7 of decision 829/1 dated 8/12/2010 (setting conditions for importing live livestock) now reading: "The import of live livestock from cattle intended for slaughter over 48 months old is prohibited, as well as the import of live sheep and goats intended for slaughter over 72 months old," with the remainder unchanged.

- **Article 3:** Any text that contradicts the content of this decision is annulled, and it shall remain in effect for six months from the date of issuance.

- **Article 4:** This decision shall be notified to the necessary parties and published in the official gazette.
