Some people love to keep the bouquets of flowers they receive to add a touch of natural beauty to the decor of their homes and offices.
To do this, there are three easy methods for drying flowers and maintaining their beauty and sentimental value. You can choose the one that suits you best, according to "Emirates News".
**1. Pressing:**
This is one of the oldest methods for drying flowers. You will need a book, a heavy object, wax paper, and of course, the flowers. To preserve the entire flower, simply place it with its stem on the wax paper inside the book, then close it. Place a heavy object on top and wait for two weeks for the flowers to dry. Some people cut the stem and use only the blooming flower.
**2. Air Drying:**
Gather the flowers into small bunches using a rubber band and hang them upside down in a dry room that receives light. Leave them for two to three weeks. Be sure to leave a small space between each flower in the bunch for quicker drying. Once dried, you can spray them with unscented hairspray or another fixing spray to maintain the shape of the flowers for a long time.
**3. Silica Gel:**
Place the flowers in containers full of crystal silica gel, covering the flowers completely. Then, seal the container tightly and leave it for two to three days. Afterward, remove the dried flowers and spray them with unscented fixing spray.
**Useful Tips for Better Results:**
- Cut a part of the flower stem and make a slit in it to speed up the drying process.
- Choose a group of flowers that are harmonious in color and shape, which match the type of artistic project.
- Clean the dried flowers from dust using a vacuum cleaner and nylon stockings placed over the suction tube of the vacuum.
