Nancy Pelosi Calls to Protect American Democracy from Trump's Unstable Attack

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, described the defeated President Donald Trump as an unstable person and called for the protection of American democracy from his "unbalanced attack."

Nancy Pelosi told Reuters, "The situation with this deranged president has reached the highest level of danger, and we must do everything we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced attack on our country and democracy." She clarified that she had not received any response to her demand yesterday to activate the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to remove the defeated President Donald Trump from power.

Pelosi insisted that if the defeated President Trump were not removed through the activation of the 25th Amendment, Congress could proceed with impeachment proceedings. She emphasized that Trump's removal has become urgent and extremely important, calling for a review of security procedures and demanding the resignation of the Capitol Police chief.

Pelosi described those who stormed the Capitol as terrorists, stating there should be no possibility for this president to make any decisions or deploy any forces, as it is uncertain what might happen, hence he needs to be restrained. She stated, "We have 13 days to deal with Trump, who poses a danger to our country," affirming that Biden's inauguration has become a national security issue.

Pelosi warned against dealing with Trump, saying, "We must be very careful as we deal with a president I do not trust with everything that is going on in his mind." She also described Trump as very dangerous, stating that he does not care about security, democracy, or the transition of power.

On his part, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham clarified that activating the 25th Amendment to remove Trump is not appropriate at this time. Former White House Chief of Staff and current special envoy to Northern Ireland, Mick Mulvaney, announced his resignation from his position in protest against the storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters. He stated, "I called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last night to tell him that I am resigning from that, I cannot do this, I cannot stay."

He added, "Those who choose to stay, and I spoke with some of them, are choosing to stay because they are worried that the president might put someone worse in." The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the recent events in Washington, stating it is an internal affair and wishing the American people to get through this dramatic moment.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement yesterday, "The recent events in Washington have shown that the electoral system in the United States is outdated and no longer responds to modern standards." The Russian Foreign Ministry considered what is happening in Washington, D.C., to be an internal matter and expressed wishes for the American people to go through this dramatic moment in their history.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova mentioned that the electoral system in the United States creates opportunities for numerous violations, noting that American media has become a tool for political struggle, which has largely contributed to the observed division in American society. Zakharova continued, "We wish our friendly American people to live through this tragic moment in their history with dignity."

China today expressed hope for "the return of order" in the United States following the chaotic scenes in the Capitol, comparing the situation in Washington to the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying noted that these scenes were "familiar," reminiscent of events in Hong Kong. She pointed out that "the reaction of some individuals in the United States, including some media, was completely different this time."

It is noteworthy that crowds of supporters of President Donald Trump breached the barriers set by the police around the Capitol building, with Trump supporters ascending to the main courtyard of the building, waving Trump-supportive flags, and chanting against the results of the presidential election that resulted in the victory of his Democratic rival, Joe Biden. Meanwhile, trade data showed that stocks of several American arms companies soared sharply on the eve of the events in Washington, with supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump storming the Capitol. According to trading data, there was growth in stocks of companies like "Storm Ruger" and "Smith & Wesson," in particular.
