Army Units Establish Barriers and Conduct Patrols to Implement Mobilization Order

Army units deployed in the southern Litani sector of the Lebanese Army have set up barriers at the entrances of Tyre and throughout the sector, and have conducted armored patrols to monitor the proper implementation of the mobilization order and prevent movement.

The National News Agency reported that security forces and the traffic department in Tyre organized several reports of violations against the mobilization order and established fixed checkpoints at the city's entrances. They inspected identification documents and permits to ensure their validity according to the applicable standards and laws. The agency noted that the Tyre Municipal Police cleared the sea shores and the waterfront promenade of citizens engaging in sports activities, warning that violation reports would be issued against offenders.

Additionally, the agency stated that Tyre's Mayor, Hassan Dabbouq, urged citizens to stay at home, avoid gatherings, and adhere to preventive measures as well as the general mobilization order to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

A joint patrol of the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces evacuated the seaside promenade from citizens who had gone out for leisure with their families, violating the Supreme Defense Council's decision prohibiting leaving homes except for extreme necessities and with permission from the Internal Security Forces. The security and military personnel requested that individuals present on the promenade leave the area immediately and adhere to the general mobilization order, warning that violation reports would be issued against offenders.

In violation of the lockdown and general closure measures, Lebanese websites published photos showing some citizens not adhering to the general lockdown and home quarantine. The images, captured in Qalamoun and on the heights of Qammoua – Akkar, depicted convoys of cars and a lack of compliance with the restrictions and lockdown measures.
