Kuwait Sends Aid Plane to Lebanon to Combat COVID-19

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon announced the arrival of a relief plane from the Kuwaiti Red Crescent loaded with urgent medical supplies and health essentials as a gift from the Kuwaiti people to the Lebanese people.

The National News Agency reported a statement from the Kuwaiti embassy issued today, clarifying that a relief plane sent by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut today, a gift from the Kuwaiti people to their Lebanese counterparts. The plane was received under the supervision of Ambassador Abdul Aal Al-Qanai, represented by Counselor Abdullah Al-Shahin and the embassy staff.

Ambassador Al-Qanai stated to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the plane is loaded with medical supplies and urgent health necessities provided by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent to the Lebanese Red Cross, according to the needs that were listed in the list sent by the Lebanese Red Cross to the Kuwaiti Red Crescent. The Kuwaiti ambassador emphasized his country’s commitment to supporting the humanitarian and relief efforts made by the Lebanese, especially in the fight against COVID-19.

In this context, Dr. Mosaad Al-Anzi, head of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent mission in Lebanon, explained to KUNA that the plane’s dispatch was in response to a humanitarian call from the Lebanese Red Cross to assist the Lebanese in their efforts to combat COVID-19. He pointed out that the plane is loaded with medical devices, medications, health supplies, and physical materials that will be delivered in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross directly to hospitals to support their efforts against the virus's spread.

The head of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent mission reaffirmed the society's constant readiness to provide all humanitarian support to the Lebanese, especially in these critical economic and health circumstances.

For his part, Yusuf Botros, coordinator of relief operations at the Lebanese Red Cross, appreciated the swift response of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, acknowledging the humanitarian efforts of Kuwait in supporting Lebanon under various circumstances. Botros noted that the aid, which includes beds, respiratory devices, medications, and medical supplies, will be distributed to various Lebanese hospitals to enhance their medical capacities in combating the virus's spread.

The statement mentioned that "the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society continues its humanitarian and relief efforts by providing support and various necessities for needy Lebanese families and Syrian and Palestinian refugees residing in Lebanon throughout the year and in different regions."
