Popular delegations from various Lebanese regions have arrived at Al-Nour Square in Tripoli to show solidarity with the city and its residents.
The National News Agency reported that since 1 PM, Al-Nour Square in Tripoli has been witnessing the arrival of popular delegations from different northern areas, particularly from Denniyeh, Miniyeh, and Akkar, along with groups from the capital Beirut, Sidon, Metn, and Bekaa, to express "solidarity with the people of Tripoli and to condemn the riots that have occurred in the capital of the north in recent days."
The agency added that this gathering is taking place amid a presence of the Lebanese Army and security forces in and around Al-Nour Square. It clarified that the protesters raised Lebanese flags and slogans in solidarity with Tripoli, and chanted through loudspeakers, calling for continued action against the ruling system, emphasizing that Tripoli is united and will not be held hostage to the conflicts among political forces.
In a related context, Tripoli's Mayor Dr. Riyad Yameq received a delegation from the Tripoli and Koura Diocese and its followers of the Orthodox Church, including Archimandrite Berthanios Abou Haidar, and fathers Gabriel Yakoumi, Ibrahim Sarouj, and George Akkari.
The investigating judge in Tripoli, Jannah Obeid, also visited the municipality, where he met with Yameq and reviewed the damages. Additionally, a delegation from the Professional Gathering for Reform and Development and a group from the residents of Jabal Mohsen, blessed by Bader Eid, visited, led by Mukhtar Mustafa Houri and Colonel Khattar Nasser Al-Din, head of the National Security Directorate of the General Security in Lebanon, who assessed the damages and held a meeting to evaluate the situation before and after the fire.
Yameq thanked all those who inspected the municipal damages, especially the Minister of Interior, judges, security personnel, and political and community delegations. He said, "We thank all those who visited us and stood by our side; this support is not new for the honorable. We cooperate and provide services to everyone without exception; Jabal Mohsen is an integral part of Tripoli. We in Tripoli work together as Muslims and Christians, away from sectarianism and fanaticism. The migration of some Christian brethren from Tripoli is the city's greatest loss, and through diversity, we maintain peaceful coexistence since ancient times."
Yameq highlighted that a foreign hand is attempting to infiltrate the city and disrupt its security and property, affirming that this faction is alien to the city's fabric and the morals of its people, and that they will all stand against it in collaboration with the army and security forces.
