The United States announced its intention to resume humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
In statements made by U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price today, he noted that "the suspension of aid to the Palestinian people did not lead to political progress, nor did it ensure concessions from the Palestinian leadership; it only harmed innocent Palestinians." Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Palestinian and Israeli Affairs, Hadi Omar, mentioned that he is in contact with his partners in the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh had previously revealed in earlier statements that there were official communications with the administration of President Joe Biden. Former President Donald Trump had reduced the aid provided to the Palestinian Authority and cut funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Palestinian Authority severed its communications with the Trump administration following the latter's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the occupying state and the relocation of the U.S. embassy.
