# The 30 Best Football Stadiums: "The Chocolate Box" Ranks as the Craziest

# The 30 Best Football Stadiums:

The magazine "France Football" has ranked the top 30 stadiums in the world based on matchday atmosphere, with two English stadiums featured on the list, including Liverpool's Anfield. Glasgow's Celtic Park secured the fifth spot. The list includes stadiums from around the globe, representing countries like Egypt, Greece, Morocco, Poland, Algeria, and Tunisia.

Four Arab stadiums made the list, with Cairo International Stadium, home to Al Ahly Club, ranking first among Arab venues and 16th globally. Following closely is Morocco's Mohammed V Stadium for Raja Casablanca, which came in 20th globally. The July 5, 1962 Stadium of MC Alger ranked third among Arab stadiums and 27th worldwide, while the Olympic Stadium of Rades, home to Esperance Tunis, placed 28th.

Additionally, Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park and Rajko Mitic Stadium, home of Red Star Belgrade, ranked third and fourth, respectively, according to British newspaper "Daily Star." However, they were both surpassed by Boca Juniors' La Bombonera, which was rated as having the best atmosphere in world football.

La Bombonera, meaning "chocolate box" in Arabic, is located in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, and is dubbed the "twelfth player" due to its electric atmosphere created by the boisterous crowd who plays a crucial role alongside the eleven players on the pitch. Its unusual design is said to provide excellent acoustics, creating a unique matchday ambiance. La Bombonera opened in 1940 and was renovated in the 1990s, accommodating up to 54,000 fans.

River Plate's El Monumental, Boca Juniors' fierce rival, ranks sixth overall. Interestingly, St. James' Park is the other English venue featured on the list, with Newcastle United's famous ground taking the 22nd position. Argentina, France, and Turkey have the most stadiums listed, each with three.
