The caretaker Minister of Economy, Amin Salam, stated that "the cat and mouse game will yield no results" and that he has communicated with the Minister of Energy, asking him to manage the generator sector, emphasizing that he does not want the generator file to reach a security issue. Salam stressed in an interview with MTV that "the solution for the electricity generator file lies with the Ministry of Energy, by eliminating uncertainty and securing subsidized diesel, while the role of the Ministry of Economy is supervisory, and this sector needs rationalization."
In response to a question, he said: "I have reviewed the recovery plan presented by Mikati, which is good but requires work, and the IMF wants a plan, but the budget has been struck, and I do not believe this plan will save Lebanon." Salam revealed that "the year 2023 will witness a major economic collapse, and this will have repercussions on Lebanon, with dollars flowing into Arab and oil countries due to the world's need for energy." He confirmed, "We have not yielded to the IMF, and Lebanon cannot wait for politics and regional repercussions; we cannot stop the dialogue with the IMF, and this is a pathway that takes time."
