Georgina Rodriguez, the partner of Portugal national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo, criticized the team's coach Fernando Santos following the loss to Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. The Moroccan team secured the victory with a single goal scored by Youssef En-Nesyri just three minutes before the end of the first half at Al Thumama Stadium, making them the first African team to reach the semi-finals in World Cup history.
Georgina stated on Instagram, “Today your friend and coach's decisions were poor. That friend you spoke of with so many words of admiration and respect.” She added, “When I entered the field, I saw how everything changed, but it was too late.” She continued, “You cannot underestimate the best player in the world and your strongest weapon. And we cannot defend someone who does not deserve it either.”
