The Banque du Liban issued the following statement: "An agreement was reached between Minister of Finance Youssef Khalil and Banque du Liban Governor Riad Salameh to adopt the Sayrafa rate of 38,000 for public sector salary withdrawals for the month of February in accordance with Basic Circular 161. Given that there was a delay by the ministry in transferring those salaries to the banks, this is to ensure fairness for public sector employees."
