Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zaid announced that the country will host a quintuple meeting on Sunday involving high-level political and security officials from Palestine, Israel, Jordan, and the United States in Sharm El-Sheikh. In a statement, he noted that the meeting comes "within the framework of regional and international efforts aimed at achieving and supporting a ceasefire between the Palestinian and Israeli sides... and as a continuation of discussions that took place during the Aqaba meeting on February 26, aimed at supporting dialogue... to create a conducive atmosphere for resuming the peace process." Palestinian, Israeli, Egyptian, Jordanian, and American officials met in Aqaba, Jordan on February 26, where they pledged to work on stopping the escalating violence.
