Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi pointed out that "the mockery of the presidential election sessions is ongoing, and officials must take a stand with a conscience in front of the oppressed people and the state that is disintegrating." In his Sunday sermon, Patriarch Al-Rahi addressed the MPs and officials, stating: "You, members of the nation and ministers, are responsible for the stain of shame that Lebanon bears by losing its vote in the United Nations." He added: "The dollar has exceeded fifty thousand, and gasoline has reached a million; how will the people live? This government is resigned, and its mission is limited to managing daily affairs, focused on preserving the minimum for citizens."
