A government official in Pakistan, Abdul Basit, announced that at least 9 people have died and 44 others have been injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region in Pakistan after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake centered in Afghanistan occurred late last night. He added that hospitals in the Khyber region were placed on emergency status last night. He also mentioned that at least 19 homes were damaged due to the earthquake. An official from Afghanistan's Ministry of Health reported that at least 4 people have died and 50 others have been injured.
