Zelensky: Signing Agreements with Russia Will Not Stop the Fighting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his firm belief that signing any documents or agreements with Russia, regardless of their nature, cannot lead to a cessation of hostilities. According to Zelensky, Moscow "will ultimately violate all the promises it made later on." He mentioned in his video address the Budapest Memorandum, which provided security guarantees for Ukraine after it relinquished its nuclear weapons. He pointed out that Russia continues to bomb infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. He stated: "There is simply no benefit in signing something or reaching an agreement with them – because they will inevitably violate it later, and there will be no peace. Delivering anything to Russia from other security elements means the outbreak of a new conflict." He added: "Achieving peace requires the dismantling of Russian military capabilities, the liberation of all Ukrainian territory, and the prosecution of those who initiated this conflict."
