Egypt to Obtain Water Equivalent to 10% of Its Share from the Nile

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that the country is nearing the treatment of 5 billion cubic meters of water annually, which equals about 9 to 10% of Egypt's share of water coming from the Nile River each year. He announced that the new water treatment plant project in the New Delta, along with its associated infrastructure projects, is three times larger than the High Dam, noting that the High Dam was implemented over a span of 10 years, from 1960 to 1970, while this project will be completed within three years.

During his inspection of several projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Prime Minister added, "Some might wonder why the speed and haste?" adding, "If we combine the water treated at the Bahr al-Baqar station with the New Delta station, there will be 12 million cubic meters per day, with another million, we will have 13 million."
