Recent videos have shown millions of fish dead on the surface of the Darling River near a town called Menindee in New South Wales. Several locals documented the fish dying, stating that most of them belong to the species "Abramis," along with other types such as moray and perch. The recurrence of such incidents has raised questions about the causes behind the mass fish mortality and whether this phenomenon is primarily due to poor management of the water body in the area. Local authorities explained that "the phenomenon is a result of low oxygen levels in the water due to the decline in floods." The changes that occurred in the river led to a concentration of fish in the area near the water channel, which affected the oxygen level.
