Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev stated on Wednesday to Russian media that "Polish prosecutors have seized significant amounts from frozen bank accounts belonging to the Russian embassy and trade mission," considering this step as "a flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations." He mentioned, "We received notification from the prosecutor's office that funds from the embassy and trade mission accounts at Santander Bank were transferred to the prosecutor's office accounts." Poland froze the bank accounts shortly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, claiming they could be used for money laundering or financing terrorism. In March 2022, Poland announced that it would expel 45 Russian diplomats suspected of working for intelligence services. Poland has emerged as one of the strongest supporters of Kyiv, playing an important role in convincing allies to supply heavy weapons.
