The Islamic State (ISIS) announced today, Friday, its responsibility for an attack targeting the village of Mukondi, located about 30 kilometers south of the city of Beni in North Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. A spokesperson for the Congolese army stated yesterday, Thursday, that "Islamist militants killed at least 35 people in an overnight attack on the village in response to a military campaign against rebel activities."
