Protocol Gives Hope to Blood Cancer Patients

A cell selection technique developed by researchers in Singapore has given blood cancer patients a faster and better chance of finding a suitable donor for stem cell transplantation, even from donors previously considered unsuitable, according to the Singaporean newspaper "Straits Times." It is noted that the chance of complications related to transplantation, such as the body rejecting the transplanted cells and infections, is lower with this protocol. The (Haplo-2017) protocol was developed by a team of hematology specialists at the National University of Singapore's Cancer Institute in collaboration with doctors from local healthcare institutions.
