The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced that a 7.2 magnitude earthquake shook New Guinea Island in Papua New Guinea in the early hours of Monday. It added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 80 kilometers. The U.S. tsunami warning system stated that no tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake.
