Spanish authorities reported today, Friday, that two migrants drowned, and a third is in critical condition after being forced to swim to the shore by individuals leading two boats. The regional office of the central government stated that "two boats carrying 137 migrants, including at least three children, were near the coast of the city of Almería in the Mediterranean Sea this morning when the boat leaders forced them to swim to shore." The coast guard continues to patrol the area with a helicopter in search of others.
