Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia' al-Sudani confirmed today, Thursday, that rectifying the plight of marginalized and deprived cities is a core priority for the government. He tweeted from his official account: "Today we remember one of the most heinous crimes against humanity, which is the Halabja tragedy committed by the former dictatorial regime." He added, "By the way, we confirm that our decision in the Council of Ministers to vote on the draft law that transforms this sacrificial city into a province is an ethical duty above all else." He continued, "We are always striving to restore justice to the oppressed and deprived cities, and this is at the heart of our government’s priorities."
