China's Reaction to the G7 Statements

A senior U.S. administration official stated today, Sunday, that "Washington has not heard any direct response from China regarding the statements of the G7 leaders." The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed that "Beijing strongly opposes the joint statement of the G7. It filed a complaint with Japan, which hosted the summit, and urged its embassy in Japan to ask the G7 to stop stirring confrontation and division." The G7 leaders are concluding their summit in Japan after establishing a common approach to economic dealings with China in a statement released on Saturday.
