Sources from 'Warda' have responded to Al-Akhbar newspaper's claims regarding an alleged ISIS cell in Lebanon that implicated Shadi Mawlawi in the matter.
The source told 'Warda' that the Al-Akhbar article displays a lack of understanding, if not outright ignorance, regarding the fight against ISIS. Previously, Shadi Mawlawi's responsibilities in Idlib included tracking down ISIS members, and he has been targeted by ISIS on multiple occasions.
Furthermore, Syrian security forces are among the foremost fighters against ISIS and are targeted by the group as well. Hence, according to the source, the Al-Akhbar report is not worth the ink it was written with.
