Foreign Investors Withdraw Their Funds from Russia

Russian news agency reported today, Monday, citing an analysis of data from the central bank, that "foreign investors who left Russia after selling their businesses there withdrew about $36 billion from the country." The Russian central bank had previously explained the significance of the departure of foreign companies, stating that "this period saw about 200 sales, with only 20% involving the sale of large assets exceeding $100 million." Dozens of the world's largest companies left or reduced their operations in Russia in response to Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
