Lifting the Ban on the Russian Athletics Federation

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) voted to lift the ban imposed on the Russian Athletics Federation, which had been in place for eight years. However, athletes from Russia and Belarus will continue to be excluded from participating in international competitions due to a separate ban related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russian Athletics Federation was banned in 2015 following a widespread state-sponsored doping scandal and its cover-up of the culprits.
