The White House welcomed the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Boeing today, stating that it will support American jobs and represents a milestone in the collaboration between the Kingdom and the US aerospace manufacturing sector.
In a statement, it confirmed: "These deals combined will support over one million jobs in the United States within the supply chain related to the aerospace sector across 44 states."
Two Saudi airlines agreed to purchase 78 Boeing 737 Dreamliners with an option to buy 43 additional aircraft.
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo stated that this deal is a win for American manufacturers and workers, supporting over 140,000 jobs and serving as a fitting gesture for the economic partnership between the two countries, which has now reached its eighth decade.
Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun affirmed that the company has received support from the Biden administration and key members of Congress at every step along the way. "Most importantly, it reaffirms the long-standing relationship that serves both countries very well," he added.
