Ukrainian Soldiers Leaked Information Resulting in Airport Attack

The Ukrainian Security Agency reported today that "several Ukrainian soldiers have been accused of treason for leaking information during an unauthorized mission, which enabled Russia to attack a military airport." The agency stated in a statement that "the soldiers attempted to seize a Russian aircraft in July, after the pilot claimed he would defect, without coordinating with the relevant state authorities."

It added that during the special operation, "they revealed details about the locations of Ukrainian air force personnel and aircraft, which allowed Russia to carry out successful missile strikes on Kanatov Airport in central Ukraine."

The agency reported that "one Ukrainian commander was killed, and 17 others were injured, while two fighter jets were destroyed and the airstrip, buildings, and equipment sustained significant damage," without specifying the number or identity of the soldiers, only indicating they are accused of treason and misusing their positions.

It called for an appropriate legal assessment, stating that "the actions taken by these individual soldiers led to severe consequences."

The accused could not be reached for comment, and there was no response from Russia regarding the Ukrainian agency's statement.
