Suspension of Slovak Tennis Player Due to Doping

The International Tennis Integrity Unit announced today, Thursday, the suspension of Slovak player Andrej Martin for 14 months for failing a doping test. Martin's (33 years old) sample tested positive during his participation in the Bratislava Open in June. Martin's penalty, originally four years, was reduced after he convinced an independent panel that the violation was unintentional. The integrity unit stated, "The player confirmed that the presence of the substance in his body occurred accidentally while drinking water from a bottle of a teammate that was identical to his bottle during a match at a floorball tournament." It added, "His teammate admitted to adding drops of the substance 'Ostarine' to the bottle, and the independent court found Martin's account to be credible."
