German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock condemned the death penalty issued in Iran against Iranian-German citizen Jamshid Sharmahd, calling it unacceptable. She added, "The implementation of the death penalty on Mr. Sharmahd will be met with a strong response." Iranian media reported that a man holding both Iranian and German citizenship has been sentenced to death on charges of "corruption on earth." Iran accuses Sharmahd, who also has residency in the United States, of leading a royalist group implicated in a deadly bombing in Iran in 2008.
