Users on Facebook circulated an announcement attributed to the family of the deceased young woman mourning their daughter Zina Hassan Tarhini, without clarifying the cause of death.
Following the news of the former Miss Lebanon's death, activists shared a clip of the late Zina discussing her unspecified illness and asking her followers to pray for her. In the clip, Zina says: "I really miss you all much more than you miss me. All I ask from you are your prayers and supplications because I am very sick. Wish me a speedy recovery."
Zina Tarhini was crowned Miss Lebanon several years ago and subsequently ventured into advertising and social media.
