Sources in the oil sector told Reuters that the Jazan refinery, owned by Aramco, will increase its production of ultra-low sulfur diesel while reducing exports of vacuum distillation gas oil in the second quarter of the year.
These developments may enhance Aramco's fuel exports to Europe. The refinery could produce up to 250,000 barrels per day of ultra-low sulfur diesel when operating at full capacity. European countries are seeking alternatives to supplies from Russia following the European Union's ban on imports of Russian oil products since February 5.
Saudi Aramco and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation have ramped up production from new refineries this year, aiding in compensating for supply shortages in Europe and lowering refining product prices.
