The new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has surveyed users of the social network regarding whether he should lift the ban on former U.S. President Donald Trump's Twitter account. Musk tweeted, "Lift the ban on former President Trump," asking users to vote and respond "yes" or "no."
Previously, Trump commented on his social network, Truth Social, about Musk's acquisition of Twitter, stating that the platform was under suitable leadership. However, Trump did not reveal whether he would use Twitter again if his account were reinstated.
In early 2021, Twitter banned Donald Trump from using his account on the platform. This decision came shortly after Trump supporters attempted to prevent the U.S. Congress from certifying the election results won by Democratic candidate Joe Biden. At that time, Twitter justified the ban on Trump's account by stating that his tweets had likely incited some citizens to riot.
