European Demands for Investigation into Russia and Iranian Drones

France, Britain, and Germany have requested a neutral investigation into Iranian drones that the West claims Russia has received as part of its war against Ukraine, in a letter to the United Nations. The message directed to the Security Council and UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that an investigation by the UN Secretariat team responsible for implementing Security Council Resolution 2231 would be welcomed. These countries expressed their readiness to support the Secretariat in conducting its technical and impartial investigation. Secretary-General António Guterres provides a report to the Security Council twice a year, usually in June and December, regarding the implementation of the 2015 resolution. Any assessment of the use of drones in Ukraine is likely to be included in that report.
