The United States is preparing to impose sanctions on a major bank as part of its economic campaign against Iran. Details are set to be revealed next Monday, according to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent.
Bisent stated that the announcement was initially planned for Friday but was postponed due to the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks. He did not disclose the name of the bank or the country it originates from.
He reaffirmed that Washington will continue to pursue entities that engage with Tehran, stating, "We will continue this process until everyone stops dealing with this regime."
Since the conflict began in February, U.S. sanctions have targeted oil exports, shipping networks, arms purchasing channels, financial intermediaries, digital assets, and air links. President Donald Trump’s administration expanded its campaign last month under the "Economic Exclusion Operation," placing sanctions on about 60 entities, individuals, and vessels.
On Thursday, the Treasury Department announced further measures against companies and individuals it claims support "Hezbollah," "Kataib Hezbollah," and Iran's allies, alongside tightening licensing policies related to Tehran.
