German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated today, Friday, that her country "opposes sending cluster munitions to Ukraine," following a day after American officials said that "Washington intends to supply Kyiv with weapons that have been widely condemned for causing civilian deaths and injuries." Baerbock remarked: "Germany opposes this as one of 111 countries that are party to the Cluster Munitions Convention, and the United States is not a party to the treaty." The White House noted that "the sending of cluster munitions to Ukraine is indeed being discussed, but there is nothing to announce on this matter."
