Jordan Condemns Israeli Proposals

Jordan condemned today, Saturday, the Israeli authorities' proposal to tender for the construction of over 1,000 new settlement units in Palestinian territories. The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that "settlement activities constitute a blatant and severe violation of international law, particularly Security Council Resolution 2334."

The statement emphasized that "the settlement policy as a whole, in its details, represents a violation of international law and undermines the foundations of peace and efforts to achieve it, as well as the opportunities for a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions." The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jordan stressed that "Israel's unilateral practices, as the occupying power, including the construction and expansion of settlements, the confiscation of land, and the displacement of Palestinians, are illegal, unlawful, and condemned practices that represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law."
