U.S. President Joe Biden announced in his State of the Union address before Congress that the Russian operation in Ukraine is a "test of the age" for the United States and the entire world, emphasizing that the country will support Ukraine as much as necessary. Biden affirmed that Washington has united NATO countries and formed a coalition to confront the Russian military operation in Ukraine. He stated, "We united NATO and created a global coalition. We opposed the aggression of (Russian President Vladimir Putin). We supported the Ukrainian people."
Since February 24, 2022, the Russian armed forces have been carrying out a military operation to protect the residents of the Donbas region. President Vladimir Putin declared the goal of the operation is "to protect people who have suffered persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years." The United States has allocated tens of billions of dollars to support Ukraine militarily in confronting Russia. Since the onset of the Russian military operation, the U.S. and its allies have been supplying various types of weapons to Ukraine.
Moscow has warned the United States and Western countries that supporting Ukraine with arms will lead to further destruction and will not assist in launching negotiations to end hostilities. It has repeatedly stated that military operations in Donbas will not cease until all objectives are achieved.
