Iraqi Trade Minister Atheer Daoud al-Ghareeri announced today, Saturday, that Iraq has achieved self-sufficiency in wheat for this season as the supply has exceeded expectations. The minister stated that "the total quantities marketed of wheat up until today have surpassed the anticipated amounts, with the marketing process still ongoing." An official from the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture mentioned this month that wheat production is expected to range between four million and 4.5 million tons for this season.
