Due to Artificial Intelligence... Company Lays Off One-Third of Its Employees

Arvind Krishna, the CEO of the American tech giant IBM, revealed that he "intends to reduce the workforce in the administrative sector of the company by about one-third, as these jobs have become redundant due to the advancement of artificial intelligence technologies."

In an interview with Bloomberg, he stated that the company will issue a temporary hiring freeze for "back-office positions," indicating that it is possible to eliminate 7,800 jobs over several years.

Krishna added that "these roles, which do not require direct interaction with customers, employ about 26,000 employees, so I can easily envision 30% of them being replaced over the next five years by artificial intelligence and automation."

Bloomberg's report noted that "administrative office employees are just a small part of around 260,000 employees at IBM, and the company has continued hiring in certain areas even after laying off approximately 5,000 people in other sectors."
