In Kuwait: Nullification of the 2022 Parliamentary Elections

The Constitutional Court in Kuwait ruled today, Sunday, that the parliamentary elections held last September are invalid, and the previous parliament will be reinstated. The ruling stated that the court annulled "the entire electoral process that took place on September 29 in the five electoral districts and the declarations of those who were announced as winners... and that the dissolved council will regain its constitutional authority from the date of this ruling as if the dissolution had not occurred." This comes at a time when tensions have resurfaced between the elected parliament and the government, following the Crown Prince of Kuwait's move last year to resolve the political dispute by dissolving the parliament and calling for early elections, which resulted in gains for opposition members.
