**An American Delegation Emphasizes the Urgency of Approving Reforms**
The Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, received the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, at the second presidential palace in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed the overall situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries. Ambassador Bukhari quoted Berri’s call for moderation, stating that “the will for good must prevail,” noting that “the current phase necessitates relying more than ever on good words and betting always on good intentions.”
Berri also discussed with the American Task Force for Lebanon, led by former Ambassador Edward Gabriel, along with the accompanying delegation, in the presence of American Ambassador Dorothy Shea, the current situation in Lebanon. After the meeting, Gabriel stressed the necessity of implementing essential reforms for the functioning of institutions and stopping the ongoing bleed.
Regarding the presidential elections, the American delegation affirmed the need to conduct this important process as soon as possible. Concerning the return of displaced persons, Gabriel mentioned that upon returning to the United States, he would explore “possible solutions.” The delegation also discussed working on restoring electricity quickly for the people, particularly focusing on “the adoption of solar energy in municipalities across all Lebanese territories,” as Berri emphasized the importance of approving the law related to the development of solar energy.
Berri also welcomed the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Head of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, Mrs. Amina Mohammed, and her accompanying delegation, where they addressed the overall situation and the developmental projects being implemented by the United Nations in Lebanon.
