A Serbian court ordered the detention of three Kosovo police officers today, Friday, and initiated an investigation after they were arrested earlier this week in a border area under conflicting accounts from both sides. Kosovo claims that the three officers were detained within its territory by Serbian officers who crossed the border, while Belgrade states they were arrested inside Serbian territory. The public prosecutor's office in the city of Kraljevo, southwest of Serbia, stated that the three officers were charged with manufacturing, possessing, carrying, and trafficking weapons and explosives without a permit. The office announced in a statement, "The preliminary proceedings judge at the High Court in Kraljevo ordered the detention of all the suspects." The arrest of the three officers is the latest incident in a series of events that have caused unrest in the region and raised concerns about a resurgence of violence between Serbia and Kosovo.
