Expected Rains to Help Clear Canada's Air

The Canadian meteorological agency confirmed yesterday, Saturday, that "the rains will help disperse the smoke clouds in the eastern part of the country, starting today, Sunday; however, they "may not reach the raging wildfires in Quebec for several days." Officials state that "by Monday, there will be about 1,200 firefighters, including more than 100 from France, battling the fires across Quebec."

A total of 426 fires have erupted across Canada, causing the burning of 4.4 million hectares so far, along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Thousands of Canadians have been forced to leave their homes.
