Leeds United stated that it is unacceptable for their striker Patrick Bamford to face abuse on social media after he missed a penalty during the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United in the Premier League last Saturday. Leeds said: "Patrick Bamford and his family have been subjected to unacceptable online abuse, including threats on Twitter. It is time for this behavior to stop." Bamford missed a penalty saved by goalkeeper Nick Pope in the first half after Newcastle's Joelinton committed a foul against Junior Firpo.
