The Danish Parliament has announced that it has requested members of parliament and all its staff to remove the "TikTok" app from the mobile devices provided to them due to "spying risks." This announcement follows recommendations from the Danish Cyber Security Center, which urged government employees to remove "TikTok" from their phones after the European Commission banned the app on devices it provides for "institutional protection."
This popular platform, owned by the Chinese company "ByteDance," is under increasing scrutiny from Western nations concerned that Beijing could access user data from around the world.
The United States considers the app a national security threat and banned its use on government employee devices at the end of December. Federal agency employees have also been ordered to do the same.
Similarly, the Canadian government has banned the app from the mobile devices it provides to its employees.
