Kuwait's Cabinet Approves Decree to Dissolve the National Assembly

Kuwait's news agency "KUNA" reported today, Monday, the issuance of an Emiri decree to dissolve the National Assembly, elected in 2020, which was reinstated by the Constitutional Court in March, allowing the public to choose their representatives again. The decree states: "Returning to the nation, the source of authority, to choose its representatives in managing the affairs of the country during the upcoming phase." The decree, signed by the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, emphasizes that the dissolution comes "in accordance with the constitution, in respect of the public will, to safeguard the higher interests of the country, and to maintain its stability amid international and regional economic changes." The decree pointed out that, in light of these considerations, "it was necessary to revert to the nation, the source of authority, to decide on the selection of its representatives for participating in the management of the country's affairs in the next phase."
