The official spokesperson for the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), Abdullah Fhad Al-Ajmi, stated that the company extinguished a fire that broke out today, Monday, at the Al-Zour oil refinery, with no injuries or loss of life reported. Al-Ajmi told Reuters: “The fire was extinguished in less than two hours, with no loss of life and no injuries,” indicating that “operations are now proceeding normally, and production and export activities continue.” He confirmed that the fire broke out in unit number 12, and determining the cause of the fire requires “a thorough investigation.” The Al-Zour refinery, which opened in November, is the largest oil refinery in Kuwait and is managed by KIPIC. It is expected to have a refining capacity of 615,000 barrels per day.
